Budget 2021: Govt to extend PRS tax relief, ETF stamp duty exemption

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 -- The government will extend the income tax relief period on Private Retirement Scheme (PRS) contributions by individual taxpayers. 

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said income tax relief of up to RM3,000 on PRS contributions will be extended until 2025.

"This release period will be effective from the year of assessment 2022 to the year of assessment 2025," he said at the Budget 2021 presentation in Parliament today.

Meanwhile, he said the government had also extended the stamp duty exemption period for the Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) for a period of five years.

The exemption is effective for trading transactions made from Jan 1, 2021 to Dec 31, 2025.
