Peniagawati appreciates allocation given under Budget 2021

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 -- Non-government organisation, Peniagawati Malaysia appreciates the funding allocation provided by the government under Budget 2021 to women entrepreneurs in an effort to revive the country's economy amid the current challenging situation.

Its president, Datuk Azlin Ahmad Shaharbi, said the funding allocation provided would to some extent help to restore and restart the micro-enterprise sector which was severely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially women entrepreneurs.

"We believe the government has done its best to revive the economy and we see many efforts that appreciate the contribution of women to the economy.

"We are also confident that the efforts can be achieved if all parties are open-minded by realising that COVID-19 is a global problem and the whole world is trying to address it," she said in a statement today.

Budget 2021 presented by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz on Nov 6 themed 'Teguh Kita, Menang Bersama' was formulated based on the three main goals, namely People's Welfare, Business Continuity and Economic Resilience.

Tengku Zafrul said the government greatly appreciated the contribution of women to the country and to empower women entrepreneurs, a total of RM95 million in special micro credit financing was provided through TEKUN Nasional, Majlis Amanah Rakyat and AgroBank.

Apart from that, a total of RM50 million is also allocated under the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) to support Islamic financing activities through Ar-Rahnu BizNita.

Meanwhile, Peniagawati Malaysia took the approach that the domestic economy should be developed and mobilised, therefore, opportunities for upskilling and training enhancement especially in terms of marketing strategy, labelling and technical aspects under the BizMe training scheme are most welcomed.
