KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 -- The large allocation for the Defence Ministry in Budget 2020 is a positive indicator to the development of a Defence White Paper (KPP).
The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) chief Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin said the increase reflected the commitment of the government for its future plan to defend the country.
“I would like record my appreciation and thanks for the commitment of the government by providing better allocation to ATM in Budget 2020,” he said in a statement tonight.
He said as a fifth highest recipient, ATM would use the allocation prudently to improve the capability and preparedness of ATM to defend the country’s sovereignty.
Yesterday, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng when tabling Budget 2020 at Dewan Rakyat announced an allocation of RM15.6 billion for the Defence Ministry next year.
