KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 -- The expansionary measures set out in Budget 2021 clearly outline the government’s strategy in elevating the employability of the Malaysian workforce and developing relevant skill sets that match emerging jobs, especially in the digital space, said Adobe.

Adobe Southeast Asia (SEA) managing director Simon Dale said this will greatly shape the future of work in Malaysia and its economic resilience, moving forward.

“The pace of digitalisation has intensified worldwide, raising the urgency for reskilling and upskilling of the workforce to meet the demands of accelerated digital transformation.

“This is echoed in Malaysia’s Budget 2021 which allocates RM1 billion to encourage closer collaboration between the government, higher education and the private sectors to drive employee marketability and job matching through upskilling and reskilling,” he said in a statement.

Dale said Adobe applauds the government’s focus in narrowing the talent gap through initiatives such as the allocation of funding to Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation to fill the growing needs of the information communication technology industry, and funding for the Ministry of Higher Education professional certification (KPT-PACE) to encourage further upskilling and professional certification for new graduates.

“Adobe looks forward to working closely with the government to provide support in driving digital literacy, especially in the areas of data analytics, digital content creation, personalisation and delivery. 

“We have recently piloted the Adobe Programmatic League in Southeast Asia that provides customer experience digital skills training for public officers, and we plan to extend the programme into Malaysia soon,” he added.
