Extend RM500 one-off payment, govt urged

Adnan Mat

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 -- The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) wants the RM500 one-off payment to 100,000 Health Ministry frontliners announced in Budget 2021 to be given to other frontliners.

Its president Adnan Mat said that until now, frontliners have played a significant role in curbing the spread of COVID-19, especially in terms of support, safety and law enforcement.

Therefore, CUEPACS suggested that the non-MOH frontliners be given a RM300 one-off payment, he said in a statement today.

On Friday, when tabling the budget, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz announced a RM500 one-off payment that will benefit some 100,000 MOH frontliners as a mark of appreciation for their services.

Meanwhile, Adnan said CUEPACS also asked the MOH to ensure adequate supply of protective equipment for frontliners such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitisers at all health facilities nationwide.
